Privacy
Plain and short. Last updated 8 October 2026.
Playing without an account
You can play every free case and the daily without signing in. Your progress, settings and daily streak are kept in your browser's local storage on your device and are never sent to us.
Signing in with Google
If you choose to sign in, Google tells us your email address and confirms it is verified. We ask for nothing else: not your name, contacts, photos or any other Google data.
We use your email only to identify your account. We never sell it, share it for marketing, or send you newsletters.
What we store for signed-in players
Your email address and an account ID; a sign-in session cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days; the detective name you choose for leaderboards; your saved case progress and daily results, so they follow you between devices; your leaderboard entries; purchases, subscriptions and gift codes; and, if you turn on the daily reminder, your browser's push subscription.
Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details; we keep only the Stripe customer reference needed to unlock what you bought.
Analytics
We may record anonymous gameplay events, such as which evidence players open and where they get stuck, to make cases fairer. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, these events are not collected.
Where data lives
The game and its database run on Cloudflare. Data is kept for as long as your account exists.
Deleting your data
Email hi@thepoe.xyz from the address you sign in with and we will delete your account and everything linked to it. Clearing your browser's site data removes anything stored on your device.
